Well I am about to expound on a great irrelevant topic so hold on. First of all today was a miserable day at work. I was groggy, tired, cranky, and in just a general malaise. So not even a couple of hours into the day I gave into the unproductively of the day. In situations such as these I figure the best thing to do when feeling unproductive is just to do something productive.
Do what? You say. Well let me explain. I firmly believe whatever you do you should do it with everything you got. Half-assing just isn't acceptable behavior. So, what to do when you don't feel like doing anything. How about something you feel like doing. Okay, sorry still not making sense. Productivity is generally defined as doing something that brings you closer to an end product or goal previously established. (Definition courtesy of Michael not Webster) So in order to still do something productive all you have to do is change said predetermined goal. So if said goal was originally, try and get as much work done, so the boss notices how hard you work thus giving you extra money for the work you do, and you don't feel like doing said work. Just change your goal to something else say, mindless browse the Internet for other stimuli that somehow can benefit your life in another way. Then well productivity is just a web page or two from realization. All this while keeping your dignity by putting all effort in forsaking said original work and concentrating instead on new goal at hand. Mindless Internet browsing.
Okay I bring this up because I learned two new things today that made my completely unproductive day at work rather productive. What did I learn?
1. How to finally link completely worthless irrelevant web pages such as this one to my web page. (haha bet your expecting ninja or chuck norris jokes huh?) Ok, I admit this isn't much of an accomplishment seeing as their is a little button you click and that's about it. But, I'm lazy about learning certain things. Especially things that require me doing a little more work so someone else doesn't have to do a little bit more. (i.e. google something, or god forbid cut and paste a url). So this in itself wouldn't constitute a productive day. So in comes to play number.
2. Which is simply the discovery of true genius. Now I admit I am a pretty smart cookie. Figuring I am only a hop, skip, and a jump from true genius. Considering most the Cretans you come across on an average day make the average guy look above average. Being above average well you just start assuming genius status. But, today I was humbled and slightly humiliated by true genius slapping me in the face and declaring my barely sub par status. So what is this genius you are all anxiously wondering. Well go here and spend a few minutes. You'll be a different person because of it. I guarantee it. After all I think someone said it takes genius to recognize genius. Maybe, I am not that far off after all.
( For those who spent sometime there you know why I am writing this : Scott Adams Dilbert . Hint: go to March 6th )
