God of Wine

Saturday I decided to take a break from all the running around I've been doing recently and just chill at the place by myself with a good bottle wine. And by chance a bottle of $20 wine I wrote about here was on sale for $10. That is enough for the Accountant / Finance major in me to get a little giddy inside so I took it from the shelf and proudly popped the cork of my new investment when I arrived home.

Yet, when the first taste hit my lips and tongue it wasn't quite the glorious experience as I previously remembered this vintage to be. Though it was still smooth and pleasurable.

Now it should be explained my enjoyment of red wine is also coupled with the distaste of having my tongue turn a deeper shade of red. So I have a tendency in the first glass or two of trying to drink the wine with minimum tongue involvement. Well as the night progressed and I began to relax a little bit more fully and in my impending inebriation I allowed the wine to sit on my tongue a little longer letting it caress every taste center. Then as a firecracker going off, the full array of flavors exploded across my palette.

Immediately, I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes of all time written by Frank Herbert in his novel Dune ""Think you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Then, what deafness may we not all possess? What senses do we lack that we cannot see and cannot hear another world all around us?"

How does your Truth stack up to another? How is it we can we judge another without taking a step in their shoes? What experience am I missing that will further enlighten me to the mysteries of this world?

Just thoughts on a quiet night at home.
